BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A stomach bug is going around.

Joanne Hensley with the Whatcom County Health Department says things like Norovirus tend to spread this time of year.

Hensley says some businesses that care for the sick and elderly might choose to close their doors for a while so that the virus doesn’t spread to or from their facilities.

Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, for example, has decided not to allow visitors right at the moment.

Norovirus symptoms include diarrhea and nausea.

It can cause serious problems for the elderly and others who are vulnerable because of dehydration.
