BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A bicyclist in Bellingham had to be flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he was hit by a truck while riding in the bike lane.

The crash happened just before 5:00 Wednesday afternoon on Northwest Avenue near Shuksan Middle School.

Lieutenant Bob Vander Yacht says the bicyclist was wearing a helmet, but his injuries couldn’t be treated in Bellingham.

He says the driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected in that crash.
