FERNDALE, Wash. – A Ferndale man killed in a head-on crash on the Guide on New Year’s Eve had not been drinking after all.
Troopers at the scene said they could smell alcohol on Travis Holst’s breath.
They passed that information onto the media.
Toxicology reports show that Holst didn’t have alcohol or any other drugs in his body.
His father Mark is relieved.
Mark Holst says the Washington State Patrol shouldn’t have spoken so soon.
The other driver, Brox Browning also died.
He tested positive morphine, which he had a prescription for, and marijuana.
WSP is still investigating the crash.
