Avalanche danger high on Mt. Baker, Cascades

GLACIER, Wash. – The Northwest Avalanche Center is continuing an avalanche warning for the western slopes of the Cascades, including Mount Baker.

New snow and warmer temperatures are keeping the Avalanche danger high.

The center’s Benj Wadsworth says people should check their website before going up to the mountains.

Twenty-three year-old Jake Merrill from Bellingham was killed in an Oregon avalanche in February.

Merrill was raised in Bellingham and graduated from Western Washington University.
