Each September, there is an adventure race in Bellingham for “tough guys (and gals)” to see how they stack up against each other running, mountain and road biking, and paddling around in this world-class outdoor recreation mecca. It is a multi-sport race with a soul- celebrating the life-cycle of wild salmon and the natural and urban challenges of their journey. If you’re just out looking for fun, put a relay team together and join the party.

The Traverse – A Northwest Rite of Passage

The Bellingham Traverse is a multi-sport 40 mile race designed for rugged individuals who are willing to test themselves against what this epic outdoor community has to offer. The Traverse Course includes a 5.5 mi. Greenways Run, 6 mi. Mountain Bike, 18 mi. Road Bike, 3.4 mi. Trail Run, 3.6 mi. Paddle, 0.65 mi. TREK to the finish at Boundary Bay Brewery. You can GO IT ALONE, grab a friend or gather a team to do it as a relay. Saturday, September 20th, 2014.

Start at 12:00 pm at Boundary Bay Brewery and the Bellingham Farmers Market.

Equipment Rental is available, so participants don’t have to transport all their own gear. The race gives extra support to soloists, providing equipment transportation for those in need.

The Finish Line
Boundary Bay Brewery is not only the social hub of the community, it is also host of the finish line for the event. They brew a special beer, Traverse Ale, for the event. The Traverse is really a big party, with a race thrown in to kick it off.


5Point Film Festival, Depot Market Square, Bellingham

The 5Point “On the Road” event will be in Bellingham on September 20th at the Depot Market Square, doors open at 6pm with the Kulshan Brewing Tailgate Party.

The event will showcase 11 short films from the 5Point Film Festival, which took place earlier this year in Carbondale, Co.

A recreation fair in the square will give you the opportunity to engage with many of the recreation-oriented businesses and local nonprofits.  There will be food vendors, beverages, games and fundraising activities.

Admission is $10 for adults and kids under 12 get in free.
