Bellingham Beer Week spans from September 20th – September 29th

The events of the week are below:

FRIDAY, SEPT. 27

The Copper Hog and Ninkasi host Barleywood Squares – Everyone’s favorite beer trivia game, Barleywood Squares! Come see if the 9 beer celebrity panel guests are full of s#%t or not. 5 p.m.-midnight.

“Craft Beer Revolution” Book Launch – Celebrate with author Joe Wiebe at Elizabeth Station as he launches his book, “Craft Beer Revolution: The insider’s guide to B.C. breweries,” and speaks about B.C.’s extraordinary craft beer industry. The book will be available for sale, courtesy of Village Books, and Joe will be on hand to sign copies. 3-5 p.m.

BellinghamBay Oktoberfest Cruise – After a summer of sold-out “Bellingham Bay BREWS Cruises,” San Juan Cruises have added an Oktoberfest cruise during Bellingham Beer Week. The 6:30-8 p.m. cruise will feature BoundaryBay beers with a special Harvest Rye beer, along with several other Northwest breweries to be announced soon. Each brewery will have at least one fall beer available, and a variety of light snacks will be served. Price is $35 + tax (21 & over only). Departure is from the Alaska Ferry Terminal in Fairhaven. SATURDAY, SEPT. 28

Food Truck Round Up – This benefit for Whatcom County Food Banks will feature local food trucks, live music, a Beer Garden featuring Kulshan Brewing Co. beer (sponsored by Whatcom County North Rotary Club), plus activities for kids! 1200 Iowa Street. Presale tickets are $10, which includes 5 free food samples, and they are available at Industrial Credit Union branches, Whatcom County Haggen stores, Whatcom County Cruisin’ Coffee locations, Bellingham Grocery Outlet, and Kelley Insurance (Everson and Sumas). Event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blind IPA Trials at Elizabeth Station, all day.

Bellingham Beer Week Hike-Brewery Meet-Up hosted by Beers at the Bottom – You are invited to join Beers at the Bottom (beersatthebottom.com) for a special hike to Fragrance Lake, then share some beers at the bottom at Kulshan Brewery. Oktoberfest at Chuckanut Brewery. Festbier will be on tap along with other local beers, plus German-inspired food and live music, 4-10 p.m.

Cornhole Tournament at Kulshan Brewery – Signups and brewery tours between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Cornhole Tournament begins at 1 p.m.

The 71-year-old has canceled several concerts and public appearances and blamed it on unspecified treatment.

Aretha Franklin stormed out a Johnny Rockets in Ontario, Canada last week after a nasty encounter with a rude employee.

The Beatles wanted to film ‘Lord of the Rings’

The woman who as a child was the basis for the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is gravely ill. It was thought by many at the time that the psychedelic song from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band was a paean to LSD because of the initials in the title, but it was actually based on a drawing that John Lennon's young son Julian brought home from school. He told his father the drawing was of Lucy in the sky with diamonds. Lucy Vodden, now living in Surrey just outside of London _ drifted apart after schoolyard days, but they have gotten back in touch as Lennon has tried to help Vodden cope with Lupus, a life-threatening disease.
